Programs for Pregnant Women
Healthy Kids for Pregnant Women (Medicaid)
Pregnant women with a household income of less than 185% of poverty level may apply at the Health Department. Income levels used are those during the time before delivery and up to 2 months after delivery.
MOMS (Maternity Outpatient Medical Services)
A program for pregnant women who are at 185% of poverty level but do not meet the requirements for Medicaid (i.e. teens living with parents, migrant workers). Persons are eligible for payment for prenatal care, childbirth classes, medications, laboratory test and support services as listed for MSSP. This is funded through the Michigan Department of Community Health.
Programs for Children
Healthy Kids for Infants & Children under age 19:
Infants (under 1 year of age) may be eligible if the household income is less than 185% of the poverty level. Children (over 1 but under age 19) may be eligible if the household income is less than 150% of poverty level. These infants and children may have health insurance coverage and still be eligible for Healthy Kids as a supplemental insurance. THERE IS NO COST.
MICHILD
MICHILD is a health insurance program for uninsured children under age 19 with a household income over 150% of poverty level but does not exceed 200% of poverty level. There is a $5.00 monthly premium per family if your child/children are eligible.
